Air Resorts was formed in 1975 as a flight training and air taxi firm. Airline operations were established in October 1979. In 1982 they absorbed American Inter-Island which flew in the Caribbean as a subsidiary of American Airlines. This airline flew regular scheduled passenger service in California and did extensive charter work.
